Dear Mr. McNeill:

While you are quite right about the sarcasm (we lay it on pretty thick at the Tar Wheel), your comments were not at all disappointing, just surprising to "Your Scribe." As a Communications major, I'm pretty interested in your line of work, especially the on-air talent. In fact, I'm good friends with Chris Kelly, and remember his brief stint at WGHP several years ago. Anywho, I'm a world-class smart aleck, and suspect that my humor often misses the mark. Maybe I hit the tree at least.

And no worries that you don't remember me back in '83... I was only 11.

Thank you again for taking the time to speak with our club.

Sincerely and respectfully,
Cooper Thornton

Dear Tar Wheel—

Thanks for your mention of me in the newsletter. I detect a big of sarcasm here which leads me to believe my comments disappointed you. If this is so, please accept my apologies. However, I was impressed that you listened to me enough to take some pretty detailed notes.

BTW–I remember the Dave’s Mountain live report. And I remember making the phone call (the days before cellphones). Unfortunately, I don’t remember you.

Have a nice day.

Mac - Actually dictionaries were given to over 2,000 third graders in Randolph County (five City and seventeen County elementary schools). The Asheboro Club was responsible for all 5 City and 2 County schools for a total of 580 dictionaries. Each of the four Rotary Clubs in Randolph County (Archdale-Trinity, Randolph, Liberty and Asheboro) shared in the total cost of the dictionaries which was $3428, half of which was paid by a District Simplied Grant (Rotary Foundation). Asheboro's share was $1,576.88 or around $800 from the Club.

I really enjoyed your meeting summary posted, I found it rather amusing that
the man named Ed spoke on behalf of pro litter, no wonder we have national litter problems.

Anyhow, my name is Canada Litter King, in the year 2001 in BC Canada I legally changed my name with a decision that I would dedicate my life towards studying anti litter programs, cleaning up, and trying to find and implement effective anti litter marketing strategy, its been a fun challenge thus far.

Here is a web info page you can check out www.litterisbad.com

Keep up the great work, together we can make a difference

               Sincerely Canada Litter King
